I have an interesting question that may seem dumb to some of you. Is it possible to achieve permanent hair removal by using sandpaper? I used to play around on a skateboard a few years back, and as a result of the skateboard scraping my shins I no longer have any hair on my shins, and there is no scarring of any sort. Just smooth shins. So I'm curious, although painful, could I permanently remove chest hair by using sandpaper to scrape the surface of the chest to a point of bloodying? It would be rediculously cheap compared to laser hair removal and other such techniques. If this would not work, then why did it happen to my shins? Thanks for any feedback!

It probably could work, but you might end up doing more damage than you asked for. Personally, I think you'd be better off using laser treatment...it really isn't as costly as you make out:
"Laser hair removal general prices
Whole of the face Costs - $150-300
The Upper lip Costs - $50-150
A Chin Costs - $50-150
The Underarms (both) Costs - $50-150
Half legs (both) Costs - $200-400
Half arms (both)Costs - $200-400
The Buttocks Costs - $150-300
Back Costs - $200-500
The Chest Costs - $100-300 (ask for definition)
The abdomen Costs - $100-300 (ask for definition) "
I got that from: http://www.insightempire.com/Laserhairre...
Considering the results are permanent, I think, for the price it's worth it.

it might work but you also might have scars from it so I dunno if I'd do that. There is also possibility of infection. I've heard of people using this to remove a tattoo but not for hair removal so I dunno. Interesting though.

You probably lost hair on your shins from all the friction but the sandpaper idea is a pretty ridiculous one. Potentially dangerous too I'd say. Plus your chest is far more sensitive and the skin more delicate than on your shin. I'd don't think sanding your chest is a good idea!

I don't recommend it; it can cause burns to the skin. You could use a pumice stone, but be careful for the same reasons. Your BEST BET is to use an epillator, but be prepared for the "ouchies' until you get uysed to the feeling of the hairs being pulled out. (Baby Orajel on the skin helps.)

OUCH! kind of drastic!
I knew a blind woman in college who used a sort of sandpaper for removing hair from her legs. But this wasn't a permanent solution.
And while, yes it would be cheaper than laser, it's also pretty risky. you could get infected or the scar tissue might look awful. how about just using Hair or something if you don't want to pay for laser?

I heard a guy talking one day to someone else who was noticing that this guy had no chest hair. And they were asking him how that happened, and his wife steped in and said, "Grass dont grow on a playground"
